Deep in the Brazilian Amazon, a young indigenous woman and her family are teaching the world about the Tatuyo people, one of the 305 tribes living in Brazil, through TikTok and Instagram.
Cunhaporanga Tatuyo has in both social media platforms combined almost 6.5 million followers.
The 22-year-old performance on the TikTok platform is remarkable. A video of Cunhaporanga giving a bowl of larvae to her parents to eat has gained 6.7 million views.
Larvae are a popular food among most indigenous communities based in the Amazon.
In her short videos, the young indigenous woman shows scenes from her everyday life.
She posts about her community’s customs, animals living in the wild. And she teaches the Tatuyo language, her mother tongue.
